The Karuk word for "upriver" is who we are.

The Karuk people have lived along the middle Klamath River since time immemorial. Our beadwork traditions connect us to the land, to ceremony, and to each other.

Upriver Beads exists to put quality supplies in the hands of Native artists. Not a craft warehouse with ten thousand products and no soul. A curated selection of seed beads, stone beads, and essentials, chosen by someone who actually uses them.

Why Upriver

Built different, on purpose.

01

Native Owned

Karuk-owned and operated from Etna, California. Your purchase supports a Native family and a Native business.

02

Curated, Not Cluttered

We carry what beaders actually need. No filler products, no thousand-page catalog. Every item is something we would use ourselves.

03

Community First

Built by a beader, for beaders. We know what it takes to complete a project because we are completing them too.

04

Klamath River Roots

Based in the heart of Karuk territory. This is not a brand story we invented. It is where we come from.

"Every bead carries a story. We are here to make sure the next generation has the supplies to keep telling them."
